If you are interested in a low risk, easy way to balance your hormones, seed cycling might be for you.
Seed cycling is an easy, low-risk method that helps support balanced hormone levels, reduces PMS symptoms, boosts fertility, and eases menopause symptoms.
When seed cycling, you implement seeds and supplements to balance your hormones during specific parts of your menstrual cycle.
Days 1 - 14, menstruation to ovulation
For the first part of your cycle, starting on day 1 (the day you start your period) you eat one tablespoon of flax or chia seeds and one tablespoon of pumpkin seeds each day. The seeds can be grounded, if easier for you to digest. Along with the seeds, you take omega-3 fish oil. Together, these provide an estrogen boost.
Days 15-30, ovulation to menstruation
For the second half of your cycle, you eat 1 tablespoon of sunflower seeds and 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds each day. With these, you take Evening Primrose, an omega-6 supplement. Together, these give you a progesterone boost.
Seed cycling works by taking advantage of the nutritional components in the seeds, such as zinc, omega fatty acids, vitamin E, and selenium. If you are having trouble with regular periods seed cycling can help regulate your cycle. If you're not having periods, or have irregular periods, you can guide your cycle with moon cycles. Days 1-14 (new moon to full moon), eat pumpkin seeds, and flax seeds or chia. Days 15-30 (full moon to new moon), eat sunflower seeds, and sesame seeds. Although it sounds strange, women used to naturally follow the phases of the moon in earlier centuries.
